  • To my good friend Luke,

Goodbye to you my best friend in North Country.
You couldn't shoot, so by chance we were able to meet each other in job training,
When we had the weekends off from school I remember, me, you, and Dennis would hang out,
Normally we'd go to the mall and eat at a Korean restaurant when I was able to,
    Because I couldn't run,
And by luck we were able to be stationed at the same place,
And when we had our weekends off from our respective workplaces we'd just do what we normally did,
Hang out at the mall, eat somewhere, talk, and joke about silly things,
You left overseas and came back then I left and now you're gone again,
I wish I wish I could have seen you on your last night here to wish you well and to see you off,
But alas it was not so,
So it's my dearest wish that you'll read this poem of mine and appreciate the friendship we have,
I hope the best of luck to you and to whatever you do when you get out,

    Your friend, the Rat.
